Madison's appointments were full of great news! She's up over a pound, has grown a couple of inches, and is in perfect health. You know, except for the whole heart block/murmur thing.
She did great considering the pediatrician was 30 minutes late. There was an epic tantrum and many trips to the room door for pounding while saying, "go, GO" but she was great once the doctor cam in. Dr. G gave her passing marks for everything and loves how social Madison has become. She did comment that we have another stubborn little lady on our hands and wished me luck.
The next stop was the cardiologist. Madison was not happy about the thing the stuck on her finger to check her oxygen. Nor was she happy about the EKG stickers. She must have said, "ouchie" a million times. Dr. S was also please with the peanut. Her heart rate is now in the 80s (your rate slows as you age) but she's still only 5-15 beats below the normal range. She still has a murmur (which is caused by a hole in the heart) so Dr. S decided to do a quick echo to check it out. Again, Madison wasn't happy but let him get most of what he needed. Her murmur is very, very small and may still close. If it doesn't then we'll wait until she's close to 40 pounds and she'll have it repaired via catheter. Dr. S told me he does more of these than any other doc on this side of the country so I'm trying not to fret. For now, he told me to just enjoy having two toddlers.
Next, we went to the lab for a blood draw. This was horrible. Horrible. It took three sticks (each of them also involved moving the needle around), three techs, and more tears from Madison then I care to see again. She kept yelling, "ouchie" and ""GO!". I tried to calm her but it took 40 minutes and it was waaaaaay past her normal lunch time.
We got back to the cardiologist in four months and the pedi in August for Madison's two year checkup.
Pictures soon.
